Ken Graves
Ken Graves
October 27 - November 27, 2022
Opening Reception November 4, 5:30 - 7:30pm
Gallery Paule Anglim is pleased to present an exhibition of the collage works of Ken Graves.
Grave's collages splice together photographic images with thread and, occasionally, feathers, offering incongruity, humor and light social parody. His small framed compositions picture figures in unlikely settings.
Graves has worked many years and taught photography at Pennsylvania State University, before settling in the Bay Area. His collage works employ a keen sense of the unique reality a photo image communicates. They pay homage to surrealism and Victorian paper collages, embarking on related fantasies while offering up deadpan absurdity and impossibility.
Graves works are represented in important public collections including the New York MoMA, SFMOMA, Brooklyn Museum of Art, Houston Museum of Fine Arts, the George Eastman House and the National Library, Paris among others.
