Xiaoze Xie immigrated from the People’s Republic of China in 1992, where he was born and studied art and architecture. Xie’s oil paintings bring together serene qualities of traditional still-life painting and photography. From the long tradition of still-life painting he employs a rich and selected palette to represent the books, which take on a nearly symbolic role. Printed pages represent ideas and beliefs/ ideologies and belief systems.
